WILL MICK GRADWELL TURN UP TO A COMMITTEE OF INQUIRY?

DEPT/SUPT MICK GRADWELL - SENIOR INVESTIGATING OFFICER OF  OPERATION RECTANGLE  BETWEEN SEPTEMBER 2008 & SEPTEMBER 2009. GRADWELL WAS LEAKING TO JOURNALIST DAVID ROSE - THE MAN WHO WAS TRASHING THE JERSEY INVESTIGATION LONG BEFORE GRADWELL CAME TO JERSEY - WHY WOULD HE DO THIS? THE INVESTIGATION WAS STILL LIVE. THE VICTIMS OF ABUSE WERE TRUSTING THIS MAN. HE LET THEM ALL DOWN. BUT WHY DID HE DO IT?

"WILL DEPT/SUPT MICK GRADWELL TURN UP"

With the passing of the Committee of Inquiry ("COI")  we again turn our attention to the Senior Investigating Officer ("SIO") Mick Gradwell.  SIO Gradwell was the lead investigator of "Operation Rectangle" the investigation into Child Abuse within the Jersey Care System between September 2008 and September 2009.  Gradwell was leaking information to Daily Mail Journalist David Rose during a live investigation. Will Gradwell be giving evidence at the COI? Will he be asked to explain his actions?

I have been following the news from the UK.

This piece is from the Guardian:

Ex-City of London police officer arrested over alleged leak to journalists.

Arrest, which does not involve allegations of payment, follows IPCC investigation based on information from Operation Elveden

A former City of London police officer has been arrested by IPCC investigators over alleged leaking to journalists.

A former senior City of London police officer has been arrested on suspicion of passing information to journalists without payment, the police watchdog has said.

The former officer, a 52-year-old man, was held at his home in south-west London on Tuesday.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission, which carried out the arrest, said there was no indication that the former officer received any money in exchange for the alleged leak.

He is one of four former or serving officers arrested over the alleged passing of information to the media, where no money was involved.

The IPCC said Tuesday's arrest was prompted by evidence gathered during the investigation into another City of London officer, who was held and released on bail in June last year.

The watchdog said the arrest also followed further evidence obtained by Scotland Yard's Operation Elveden, the investigation into alleged payments from journalists to police and other public officials.

The IPCC added in a statement: "He was arrested at his home in south-west London and is being questioned by IPCC investigators at a police station nearby. Investigators have conducted a search of his home and have seized a number of items."

The name and rank of the man, who the IPCC described as a "former senior City of London police officer", was not disclosed.

His arrest comes shortly after that of Chief Superintendent Andy Rowell, the borough commander in Ealing, west London, who was arrested by the Metropolitan police in February over the suspected release of confidential information without alleged payment.

The IPCC has launched two independent investigations into alleged misconduct by police officers, linked to Operation Elveden. On Tuesday, the watchdog said it had received 18 individual referrals from the Metropolitan police and other forces in relation to alleged misconduct by officers. End

The above  story jumped out at me. Let us also look at what the Minister for Home Affairs, Senator, Ian Le Marquand, said about this when asked in the States of Jersey.

Dept/Supt Mick Gradwell refused to give evidence to a Home Affairs Sub Panel regarding his actions. The review findings can be read here:
The Jersey authorities didn't seem to bothered with the actions of SIO Gradwell yet they were prepared to try and nail Lenny Harper with leaking to the News of the World:

These are  recordings of me giving evidence to the Home Affairs Sub Panel regarding the Financial Management of Operation Rectangle and other issues. These recordings were made in July 17th 2011. The Culture of Concealment has been alive and kicking fro a very long time in Jersey. It has taken the members of the public armed with the internet to expose this culture.

David Rose and Mick Gradwell are mentioned in part 2.

Will Mick Gradwell show up?????

thinking out loud here Rico, was Gradwell paid by SoJP or was he on secondment and still a UK officer when he leaked?
It's probable that the IPCC would need a formal complaint to investigate Gradwell if he is in the UK now.

just saying,

Absolutely hilarious.

HI Cyril,

Gradwell was seconded from Lancashire Police. And as far as I'm aware was being paid by Lancashire Police. This is a grey are as we don't have a definitive answer in fact his whole secondment is a grey area.

Hi Rico,

If Gradwell was on secondment from Lancashire then he would be under the IPCC jurisdiction,a formal complaint to IPCC would launch an investigation, maybe then we would get some answers.

Gradwell should be reported to the IPCC coz it looks like he has committed a crime which falls under the remit of operation elveden.

Rico.

Surely Home Affairs Minister Ian Le Marquand has a duty to report his findings concerning Gradwell's alleged leak(s) to the IPCC?

The leaks, put alongside the closing down of Operation Rectangle, leave a lot of questions for Gradwell to ANSWER

Poor chaps. They don't sound awfully bright. Like those who might use the excuse that they were just 'following orders'.

If I was interested in making a creative statement and putting my name to it I'd make damn sure I knew what it was I doing first. Then again, like you say, they are only 'illustrators'.

These 2 guys have had the opportunity to be gainfully employed, since leaving Uni they have NEVER once taken ANY benefit/s & undertaken all sorts of work until this work offer came up.They may not be "bright" in your terms but have an excellent work ethic, an excellent talent for their art as their degrees & work show.
If you are gainfully employed & your employer gives you work to undertake if its not endangering yourself or others what do you do give up the job & go to claim benefits,
get real man!!!

To Anon at 07:41, are you saying that these two chaps were told to draw the map with that reference to HdLG included?

Are you able to say by whom? And I wonder why too? ...

Apols for dragging the thread off topic.
